We have implemented a number of new processes to combat scamming. You will notice when contacting a seller via the 'Contact Seller' link that you are now forced to enter a code displayed on the page. This is to confirm that there is a human accessing this page and not an application used to mass email.

We're sorry that we have to implement these things, but we want to protect our seller from scammers.

To combat scammers & spammers, we have added a new feature called Classified Email. This will allow users to contact you through the site without displaying your email address. You will receive an email from ClassifiedOmaha.com with the user's message and email address. You can then choose whether to contact them or not. They will not have access to your email address. If you prefer a different method to contact you, you can turn this feature off in the Edit Your Account Info section of the Manage Account area. This feature will be turned on by default.

We have removed the Most Popular Ads section from the home page. The reason is that the ads that were there were the ads that had been up the longest, hence more ad views. With that in mind, 'popular' items would sell pretty quick, not take longer. So those ads weren't really the most popular, they'd just been around longer.

We have added a new feature for Real Estate and Garage Sale ads. You can now link to MapQuest from your ad. There is a new section to input the address when creating the ad. If you currently have ads posted, you can add the address by editing your ad in the Manage Account section.

We have added Message Boards to the site! We receive emails from users with great ideas and great questions so we thought it would be a good idea to give you a forum to post questions to us or to users in general. Its an open forum for ClassifiedOmaha.com users.

** Update: A user has informed me that the Belgium source has been flagged on eBay as a possible identity theft scam.

The emails are from a Mr. Jason Bone or an S. Chuks.

They claim that they are interested in purchasing an item and will pay an exorbitant amount to have the item shipped and to have the payment arranged with a third party.

We do not know who they are or if their offers are legitimate. ClassifiedOmaha.com makes every effort to assure only Omaha area residents register with the site, but we are unable to prevent them from browsing the site.

Again, we cannot vouch for the authenticity of these offers, and would advise to err on the side of caution and not respond.

Please take the time to review the Ad Guidelines. Posting the same ad in multiple categories is against the rules of the Ad Guidelines. These ads will be deleted. If your ad makes sense in multiple categories such as multiple services your company provides, please tailor your ad for each category.
